On Tuesday 26 April 2022, Trading Standards Officers from across Glasgow, Renfrewshire & North Lanarkshire joined forces with the aim of cracking down on the sale of counterfeit goods.

The operation was coordinated by Trading Standards Scotland following reports from a number of local consumers who had previously purchased Apple products believing them to be genuine.

Six shops were visited in the Glasgow, Renfrewshire & North Lanarkshire areas by Trading Standards staff who were also accompanied by product security representatives acting for Apple.

This action resulted in the recovery of various Apple branded products including ‘Ear Pods’, charging cables and mobile phone cases.

This type of action is aimed at protecting consumers by preventing the sale of counterfeit, and possibly unsafe products, throughout Scotland. The recovered products will now be examined and a range of enforcement outcomes will be considered.
