Approved Trader Schemes

Many local authority areas run approved trader schemes, listing local businesses who have been vetted by Trading Standards and who have made a commitment to treat their customers fairly.

Some Scottish local authority Trading Standards services are partners in either the UK-wide Buy With Confidence scheme or the Scottish Trusted Trader scheme. Every business listed has undergone a series of detailed background checks, including a review of their complaints history and a visit by Trading Standards, and has agreed to abide by a code of conduct and to be regularly monitored.
