Approved Trader Schemes

Approved Trader Schemes

Many local authority areas run approved trader schemes, listing local businesses who have been vetted by Trading Standards and who have made a commitment to treat their customers fairly.

Some Scottish local authority Trading Standards services are partners in either the UK-wide Buy With Confidence scheme or the Scottish Trusted Trader scheme. Every business listed has undergone a series of detailed background checks, including a review of their complaints history and a visit by Trading Standards, and has agreed to abide by a code of conduct and to be regularly monitored. All traders who are approved through the following local authority schemes can be searched for through Scotland’s approved trader directory managed by SCOTSS:

Professional Bodies / Trade Organisations
