On Thursday 9 November 2022, Trading Standards Scotland, in conjunction with local authority trading standards services from Glasgow City and South Lanarkshire Council, Police Scotland and the Anti-Counterfeiting Group took action against a 61-year-old male who was selling counterfeit goods on a large scale.

The operation was coordinated by Trading Standards Scotland following reports of an individual importing a range of counterfeit goods to sell on for profit.

This action resulted in the seizure of £1 million worth of counterfeit clothing and accessories mimicking a number of luxury brands.

This type of action is aimed at protecting consumers and legitimate businesses by preventing the sale of counterfeit products throughout Scotland, especially in the run up to the festive period when shoppers may be looking for a bargain. Working closely with brand representatives, the recovered products will now be examined and a range of enforcement outcomes will be considered.
