Consumer Advice

What is Consumer Advice

Products and services that we buy must be safe, of adequate quality and function as described. When we purchase goods, we are automatically given consumer rights by law. This is because empowered consumers are fundamental for fair and competitive markets, which in turn promotes economic growth.

When there are problems with bought goods or services, consumers may experience detriment and be entitled to compensation up to and including a refund. Consumer education is important to make consumers aware of their rights, allow them to make informed decisions and seek reimbursement if applicable.

Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) currently has responsibility for consumer education within the Scottish consumer protection landscape.

If you have a complaint about bought goods and services contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service. They will advise you accordingly and pass details of the case onto trading standards.
